The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a safety improvement project early November, schedule permitting on Southwest 16th Avenue (State Road 226). New traffic signals, signs and pedestrian countdown signals will be updated along Southwest 16th Avenue at Shealy Drive, Southwest 16th Street and Malcom Randall VA Medical Center entrance.
Pedestrians can expect limited access to sidewalks during signal installation and sidewalk construction. Access to businesses and bus stop locations will be maintained at all times.
The project is scheduled for completion by early 2017, weather permitting.
A public open house is planned with time, date and location to be released once confirmed. FDOT project personnel will be on-site to provide more information and answer questions about the upcoming project.
Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or family status as FDOT complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Persons who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should call Bianca Speights at 904-360-5471 or e-mail Bianca.Speights@dot.state.fl.us seven days prior to the meeting.
